L’Occitane SOS Shine Hair Mask, £12 and L’Occitane SOS Splending Ends Hair Mask, £12

This is not a paid post. Products are press samples.

These new masks from L’Occitane not only have a lovely fragrance but are beneficial to the hair.

When your hair looks dull and dry, use the silicone-free SOS Shine Hair Mask. Laced with five essential oils (rosemary, bergamot, lemon, cedar, geranium), it softens your locks as well as helping to make them shiny.

If you suffer from split ends, then the SOS Splending Ends Hair Mask, which contains shea butter as well as five essential oils, (orange, geranium, ylang ylang, eucalyptus, star anis), should make your damaged hair appear smoother. Love the whipped-cream texture.

Get hair ready for winter

This is not a paid post.

If your hair is dry and damaged from the summer, think about having a bob or
lob. The trend for shorter hair is continuing into the autumn.

Says hair guru Michael Charalambous: "Blunt bobs and lobs are the cuts women
are going for at the moment. Clients are now growing their layers out."

As for washing your hair with conditioner or a mask, which a lot of people
are advocating, Michael advises against it as your locks, especially if they
are fine, will end up being greasy.

Thinking of a colour change for the party season, Michael's tip is to go for
a more natural and richer shade.

It goes without saying that the key to healthy hair is not to over colour
it and limit your use of heated appliances. When you get your dryer
or straighteners out, ensure you protect your crowning glory before using
them.

Apply a mask once a week. If you have long hair you may find using it as a
conditioner the other times you wash your hair will give you better results.

For those bad hair days or to get another day out of your blow dry, take a
tip from the spring/summer 2020 catwalk and entwine a scarf through your
pony tail or braid.

Spotlight on WNt London Shampoo and Conditioner for Keratin Treated Hair £10.95 each, wnthair.com

This is not a paid post. Products are press samples.

If you have just laid out a small fortune for a Brazilian blow dry or any other chemical treatment you will want to ensure that you are washing and conditioning your locks with gentle products.

WNt London has recently launched a premium haircare shampoo and conditioner, which it says, prolongs your treatment. Many sulphate-free shampoos quickly reduce the effectiveness of these intensive procedures, but results, the company says, using  this shampoo and conditioner  treatments lasted about 12 weeks, compared with seven weeks with other competitive brands.

I tried it out on coloured hair and found it was left my hair feeling soft and silky.

Certainly worth trying.
