Festive fizz
Bubbly, light and fun, champagne goes down a treat. For
hundreds of years people have been captivated by the never-ending bubbles. It seems
to dance on our tongues as its flavours and aromas seduce us.
Here are three fizzes that I recommend.
Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé, £65, Berry Bros & Rudd,
(bbr.com)
Drenched in strawberries with nuances of cherries, this sensual rosé, from the family-owned house, is one of Champagne’s most alluring treasures. A glass of this sophisticated elixir lifts the spirits in an instant. Wickedly enticing. Rosé champagne does not get much better than this.

Taittinger Brut Réserve NV Champagne, £40.05, Stockists
include: Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury,
Morrisons, Asda and Majestic
This is perfection! The Taittinger family ensure that its
champagne is of the highest quality and that it is consistently exquisite. Bursting
with citrus freshness, this dry fizz is tinged with hints of honey and subtle
toasty tangs. It is deliciously delicate and extremely elegant.
Leckford Estate Brut
2012, Waitrose £29.99
From a vineyard owned by Waitrose comes this zesty English sparkler. Made
in the champagne style, it is crammed with notes of crunchy apples topped with
a creamy richness. A seriously impressive English wine.
