Spotlight on the New Nivea Daily Essentials Creme Care Facial Cleansing Range

Creams, bars, liquids and wipes, we all have our favourite way of cleansing our skin.

While I like to wash my face at night as it makes me feel that I have got rid of the dirt, grime and pollutants that I accumulated during the day, I like to use wipes or cream to freshen up during the day. So, I was delighted to discover the Nivea Daily Essentials Creme Care Facial Cleansing Range. Nivea maybe a budget range but women from all walks of life, including those who can have their pick of any product they want, swear by it as it performs. The scent is also comforting and reassuring. 

These cleansers are a welcome addition to the line as they have been formulated to clean the skin effectively without being harsh. And as we all know clean skin is essential if we want it to look good.

NIvea Daily Essentials Creme Care Facial Cleansing Lotion (£3.29) is ideal for those that do not like to use a wash off cleanser or for keeping in the office for freshening up when you are going out after work.

I like to keep a packet of the Essentials Creme Care Facial Cleansing Wipes (£2.99) in my bag when I am travelling or out and about for the day as they are perfect for quickly making you feel clean in an instant and they do not leave a greasy film on your face.

In the evening I use the Nivea Daily Essentials Creme Care Facial Cleansing Cream Wash (£3.29) which is gentle on my sensitive skin.

Blusher essentials

Whether you are at home or on holiday there are days when you only want to have a light make-up. A blusher will wake-up the complexion. Choose one that mimics the colour of your natural flush and apply it according to your face shape.

If you have a narrow face apply the blusher a few centimetres from your nose and keeping a straight line, blend it outwards towards your ears. 

To slim a round face, blend outwards and upwards from the apples of the cheeks up to the temples. 

If you have a long face, soften it by applying your colour slightly under the apples of your cheeks. 

Those lucky enough to have oval faces can apply their blusher just on the apples. By practising you will find what suits you best.

Here are four that I like for the summer and will also work for early autumn. 

Clarins Multi-Blush in Candy, £18.50
This pretty light-weight warm pink cream dries to a powder finish. It is easy to apply and gives a natural glow to the skin. 

Estée Lauder Blushing Crème for lips and cheeks in Sweet Cheeks, £19
A sheer pretty pink that makes you look as if you have just come back from a walk in the park. Contains hyaluronic acid as well as vitamins C and E. It also has luminous optics. 

 

Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush in Aglow, £22.50
An extremely light soft, coppery nude powder with a golden pearl which will enhance your complexion without looking obvious. Looks especially lovely in the evening.

MAC Powder Blush in Dame, £18.50
This is an extremely pretty mauve-pink has a satin finish that makes you look like you are lit from within. It blends effortlessly into the skin. One of the best blushers I have found in ages.

Getting ahead with Eugene Souleiman

To get the opportunity to have a styling session with the legendary Eugene Souleiman who creates the trends that others want to emulate was an opportunity not to be missed.

On my way to the Wella Professionals press launch, I had had a thorough soaking. My hair was showing the effects of humidity when I put it in the hands of the maestro.

“It is easy to smooth out your hair,” Eugene exclaimed. Well, it is if you are one of the most acclaimed hairdressers on the planet as well as being global creative director of care and styling for Wella Professionals.

He rebuked me for trying too hard to get it smooth. “Leave it to dry naturally and then use your dryer to straighten the top layer out."

Eugene also tried to convince me to have a short haircut instead of my classic bob hair. Still not sure about that as my hair needs weight to hold it down. But, who knows maybe one day?

I put his drying method to the test and found it to be easier to work with hair that is slightly damp. It was a good tip. 

Wella Professionals Oil Reflections (£7.59) is a product that I love. I prepped my hair with it before styling to help protect it from the heat. (A lighter version is coming next year.) I finished with Sebastian Professional Sublimate (£18) a super finishing crème which seems to get rid of those nasty frizzy bits that you can get when blow-drying yourself and helps to make the hair shiny.  

After being in the hands of Eugene, I felt wonderful. If only he could come to my home and do my hair every day, I would always have sleek hair.
