Champagnes to brighten up February

February might be when we think of romance but it is also one of the dreariest and dull months of the year. So here are some superb sparklers that will help liven up this dark, drab month.

Billecart-Salmon Rosé, ABV 12%, £58.10, Hedonism Wines (hedonism.co.uk)

Sipping and savouring a glass of Billecart-Salmon Rosé is one of life’s great pleasures. Founded in 1818 by Nicolas François Billecart and his wife Elisabeth Salmon, the family-owned house, this year, is celebrating its bicentenary. The family motto: “Give priority to quality, strive for excellence” has passed through the hands of six generations at the family home in the heart of France’s Champagne region.

This delicious rosé, the house’s flagship cuvée, might have new packaging but rest assured the elixir is as wonderful as ever. Elegant with delicate bubbles, this champagne tantalises your taste buds with delicious raspberry and strawberry tangs. Once you have tried it you will see why it is one of the most sought-after rosé champagnes on the market.

Bollinger Rosé NV Champagne, ABV 12%, £48, ocado.com
Oozing strawberry and cherry flavours with hints of toast and spice, this is a powerful, intense rosé that exudes class. It lingers long on the palate with a slight tannic finish due to the addition of red wine. The house is renowned for creating excellent pinot-noir-dominated champagnes and this one is no exception. But you would not expect anything else from this master. After all it has been creating fine wines since 1829.

Taittinger Brut Prestige Rosé NV, ABV 12.5%, £45, ocado.com
From this family-owned champagne house and actually managed by Taittingers comes a delicate strawberry-soaked number. Always a delight to drink, it is a crisp and refreshing champagne that will certainly brighten up a dreary February day.
