Spring may seem a long way off but after watching the models at Chanel’s SS 2022 show parading the catwalk supporting sleek bobs, I feel now is the time to grow out my layers.
During the process of reverting to my natural colour after years of colouring, my creative genius of a hairdresser, Michael Charalambous has given me several versions of the bob. Although I prefer my hair longer, going shorter quickened up the process.
My hair is fine with a natural kink and is far easier to manage one length as it needs the weight to hold it down. Michael, who always has his finger on the pulse, knew as soon as he saw me what the next step was going to be.
While short cuts are what most of us are asking for right now, Michael says it is time to grow my hair. He took out one more layer leaving me with just one. “See how you manage it and in a few months’ time we will decide whether to leave it or take it out,” he advised.
So, mid-length, straight with chunky ends turned under or left to dry naturally, is my aim for the new year.
In the meantime, I am wearing hair, elegant and under, as styled by Michael, or flipped out on damp winter days. The bob has always been my favourite cut as it is so versatile and there are so many ways to wear it.
