The bob – the haircut which stands the test of time

According to hair supremo, Michael Charalambous, the bob is the haircut which stands the test of time. Ageless and classy, it is also easy to grow out.

French Italian, contour, bubble, box, boyfriend, shaggy, the list of different types of bobs is endless. The important question is: which one is right for you?

“There is a name for every kind of bob. It is not always the cut that makes it different, it is how you style it,” says Michael. “Choosing the right cut depends on your hair texture and face shape.”

The Italian bob, considered by many to be the cut of the moment and a particular favourite of Michael’s, is a chic heavy, one-length bob with chunky ends sitting below the chin and above the shoulders. It can be worn with either a side or middle parting, with a fringe or without. It is so versatile.

It is ideal for fine locks like mine as it frames my face, adds volume and enhances my hair’s natural texture and movement while still looking polished. Michael added a wispy fringe to add softness.

Michael styled mine straight and then hooked it behind my ears to make it look more modern and to draw attention to my high cheekbones. It definitely has the wow factor.

When the weather is humid my hair has a mind of its own and likes to flip out. It makes me feel as if I have walked off the set of White Lotus. (Shown on Sky earlier this year.) Wearing it intentionally messy makes a bob more edgy. My hair loves this look.

A good cut should be easy to style yourself. Mine is amazing because it has been specifically designed to work with my fine, fluffy, hair making the most of my natural texture. I call my bob, “the Michael Charalambous”.
