Best nude lipsticks

This is not a paid post. Products are press samples.

A nude lip always look polished and can knock years off you. It’s a look that Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French president, goes for. Finding the right shade to look like your own lips but better can be tricky. You need to choose one that is a similar shade to your natural lip colour and not too opaque. If you go for one that is too beige or too brown it can wash you out. If, like me, you have a lot of pigment in your lips, finding the right hue is difficult.

Here are a few that I like.

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in Nude Lavallière (44), £27
These oil-in-a-stick are packed with hyaluronic acid microspheres, it leaves your lips feeling moist without being sticky as well as covering them in just a hint of colour. This pinky-brown shade enhances my lip colour leaving them with a subtle sheen that stays put for hours. This is the perfect nude. If you prefer something slightly deeper and peachier go for Beige Blouse.

Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Currant, £17.50
If you suffer with really dry, cracked lips you will really be pleased that you discovered this range. My favourite is Currant, a deep violet with a touch of red. This is a gorgeous colour which instantly plumps up your lips. As it is not fragranced, it is ideal for sensitive lips.

Clarins Joli Rouge in Rose Berry, £20
A moisturising lipstick that works well with your natural lip tone. This is a flattering berry shade with a subtle shine. It is comfortable to wear even on my parched mouth. If you want a less intense mouth, mix it with some lip balm.

Bold statement lips

If you like a bold bright lipstick to make a statement, then take a look at these.

YSL Vernis À Lèvres Vinyl Cream Liquid Lipstick in Rouge Remix, £26
This liquid lip colour is a fantastic combination of a long-lasting stain, a gloss and an intense hue. It is lovely and creamy so it feels great on the lips. It stays put for ages. I like the diamond-shaped applicator which is ideal for contouring and ensuring that the colour is applied evenly. For elegantly-dressed lips, this is hard to beat. Available in 12 shades.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Ombré Sculpting Lipstick in Blush + Bloom, £25.50
An innovative idea from Estée Lauder. If you like creamy, opaque colours with a satin finish, you will want one of these beauties in your make-up collection. Contains hyaluronic acid which helps prevent your lips from drying out. The gradient colour makes your lips appear fuller and more defined. It also does not change colour. Another winner from Lauder. It come in four tempting hues.

MAC Liptensity in Life’s Blood, £17.50
A gorgeous bright highly-intense berry red which looks stunning on. MAC is one of the best brands for offering a wide variety of colours and tones. This 24-piece collection is no exception. It glides on like liquid and dries to an almost semi-matte finish. If you like bold opaque colours which stay true under different lights, you are going to love this range of brights and earthy shades.

Know Cosmetics No Bleeding Lips Secret Lip Liner, £12.50, Superdrug
Say goodbye to running gloss or lipstick with this clear lip liner from Know Cosmetics, a new brand in the UK that hails from Canada. Easy to apply, it works with any shade to stop lipstick smudging and feathering. It is waterproof so lasts a good few hours.

If you have thin lips and want to enhance your pout, treat yourself to the No Thin Lips Secret Lip Plumper (£15), in the same range. It is colourless and does make your lips look fuller. You can wear it alone or under lipstick. However, if you have sensitive lips you may find it a bit too tingly.
