Spotlight on Kérastase Aura Botanica

This is not a paid post. Products are press samples.

The Kérastase Aura Botanica range is a godsend for those of you that have dull, frizzy, dry hair. It is the first 98 per cent natural origin haircare range from this highly-respected company. So, you have to sit up and take a look at it.

More than 50 formulas were tried to ensure that its cocktail of goodies, which includes Samoan Coconut Oil and Moroccan Argan Oil, delivers. Yes, I hear you say, these oils have been used in haircare for years. But Kérastase, owned by L’Oréal, combined them in the right concentrations with other ingredients to come up with a “natural” blend that is luxurious and gives the best results possible. The luxury sector has, until now, been lacking in so-called clean beauty products. Kérastase, with this line, is aiming to fill that gap.

I used the Concentre Essential (£23.20, kerastase.co.uk) as a pre-shampoo treatment. I left it on for 15 minutes before I went into the shower. It smelt gorgeous which was not surprising as Kérastase products always smell divine.

The Bain Micellaire (£21.20, kerastase.co.uk) is a gentle shampoo that has been formulated without using sulphates, parabens or silicone. It lathered rather well for one that does not contain any sulphates. The Concentre Essential came out easily in the first wash so I did not do a second one.

Conditioner is a must in my books. So, I used the Soin Fondamental (£24.40, kerastase.co.uk) on the ends. This lightweight formula promised “48 hour deep, durable nutrition and frizz control” a claim of which I was sceptical. It did, however, seem to help tame the fluff. I did not wash it out completely, I left a little in the ends. I highly recommend using the conditioner that matches the shampoo.

Before blow-drying, I spritzed it with Essence D’Eclat (£39.50, kerastase.co.uk), a  bi-phase oil and water mist that nourishes as well as keeping you from getting the dreaded candy floss look. It is not all greasy and also leaves your hair with a sheen. When I finished I gave my locks another squirt.

This is one of the best natural ranges that I have tried in a long time and I have put several through their paces.
