Whether you do your own manicures or head to the nail bar, this is a useful set to own. Taking your own instruments to the salon can prevent you getting infections from tools not properly cleaned. (You will have to clean them after each use.)
The scissors give a good sharp line and the clippers give a
precise cut. Extremely useful is the clean-up brush for getting rid of any
polish that spills over the edges. There is also a cuticle pusher (tip: never
cut your cuticles) which should not damage the nail bed.
I particularly like the peel away nail file as I found it
easy to get rid of those annoying frayed edges. Once you have worn down a side
you can replace it.
Great for keeping in your bag or for travelling is the MASQD
Hoop Nail File (£6, Boots). It has three sides, one for filing, another for
buffing and the third one for adding shine. (Tip: don’t buff your nails too
often – once a month maximum –because you can wear away the surface of your
nail making it thinner. Healthy nails should have a sheen anyway.)
Good tools for keeping your talons in perfect shape,
although your technique is important too.
