“Red is the colour of life, of blood, I love red,” said Coco
Chanel.
So it is fitting that Lucia Pica, Chanel’s new global
creative designer for make-up and colour, pays homage to the great lady with
her debut collection for the house.
The theme is red. Not only are there classic shades, Lucia
has given the hue a contemporary twist using it for the eyes as well as coming
up with a lovely red gloss for the nails.
Le Vernis Gloss in Rouge Radical (£18) gives the hands a
warm glow, while the Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow, Candeur et Expérience
(£40), is a delightful melange of variations of brown with a deep brick red
that actually looks rather striking on.
Rouge Allure Velvet Rouge Feu |
As you would expect from Chanel, there is a great selection
of lipsticks from which to take your choice. From the Rouge Allure range (£26),
there is Rouge Ingénue, a pretty warm pink beige to Rouge Tentation, an intense red, you should
find something to suit you. Also check out the Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte
Lip Colour (£26) which has a rich texture and does not dry the lips out. I like
Rouge Feu which is a wearable shade of orange.
This is a lovely sophisticated collection and can be
worn by women of all ages. Lucia has certainly stamped her mark on Chanel.
